Australia-Harvard Fellowships 2012:
connecting Harvard and Australia in research

This successful program, funded by Harvard Club of Australia Foundation, is now accepting applications for calendar 2012.

Deadline for applications is 26 September 2011.

Successful applicants will be notified by end-December 2011.

Under its theme of promoting learned exchange, HCA Foundation has awarded twenty-nine Fellowships since 2005. They appeal to mid-career and senior Harvard-based science, medicine and engineering researchers intending collaborative projects in Australia, as well as to similar stage Australians seeking to follow up collaborative projects at Harvard.

The Fellowships are tenable at eligible Australian institutions. These include all of the nationÕs universities and most prominent research centres. For Harvard-based researchers, we envisage a working visit of several months during which we encourage Fellows to interact additionally with educators and students in their vicinity. For senior Harvard applicants, we offer two extra options. One is a shorter visit where you intend to take a primary role in workshops, seminars or instructional courses, particularly if open to numbers of Australians seeking to further their knowledge in your specialised field. The other option is longer studies of, for example, sabbatical duration.

Australia-based applicants become eligible when they can demonstrate significant value in attending, say, the Harvard laboratory of a former inbound Fellow in order to bring advances back to their Australian institutions.

The PDF here ÒPreliminary Call for ApplicationsÓ sets out guidelines for applicants. It defines who is eligible, what the Fellowship covers, and what to include in your straight-forward online submission.
